About William 

In 2012, William Kwaku Obuor founded the Center for Nonprofit Development (CEND), which has since grown to become a leading resource for nonprofits, helping them design, implement, monitor, and evaluate programs/projects and secure the funding they need to fulfill their missions and create lasting change.

William, now the President and CEO who also doubles as the Principal Consultant and Trainer, brings over 13 years of expertise in development, encompassing prospect research, proposal development, project design and management, and program evaluation. William offers practical advice and training to the nonprofit organizations, equipping them with skills and tools to fulfill their mission. William’s deep expertise in nonprofit development through years of hands-on work with nonprofit clients, where he set and maintained the highest standards of excellence. His leadership in the field has not only transformed the success of countless nonprofits but also elevated the entire sector.

As the highest-ranking executive, William is responsible for leading the organization, making major decisions, setting strategic direction, and ensuring overall performance. As an experienced social worker, William understands the constraints of working in the sector. For this reason, he is able to offer expertise and solutions that enable the nonprofit sector to thrive. William has a passion for development, earning a Bachelor’s in Integrated Development Studies from University for Development Studies, Ghana, in 2002 and a Master’s in Project Planning and Management from New South Wales University of Management, Australia, in 2011.

William has a proven track record in corporate philanthropy, showcasing strong nonprofit skills development in areas such as grant writing, fundraising, project development, monitoring and evaluation, project management, financial management, leadership development, and strategic and business planning.

Prior to founding CEND, William served as president and CEO of Earth Conservation International, program officer at Sister Cities International (SCI), and fundraiser at Averill Fundraising Solutions. During his tenure at each organization, he strengthened programmatic and administrative infrastructure and forged partnerships with nonprofits, local governments, foundations, and corporations to advance each mission and increase outcomes. Wiliam is also a self-taught web developer with experience in a number of open source technologies. William has served on numerous boards; he is currently the board chair of the Water and Environmental Sanitation Network of Ghana and the current acting chair of the Council for Non-Governmental Organizations of Ghana (CONGOGH). William is committed to using his experience and skills to help as many nonprofit organizations as possible.
