Board Governance Training

This course, also called Board Basics A–Z, sets the overall course for the organization, monitors and contributes to financial performance, and plays an important role in connecting the organization with its constituencies and funders. Many nonprofits, however, have boards with limited experience in these roles.

Of all the challenges facing a nonprofit, managing the board can certainly be one of the most daunting. This thought-provoking course addresses issues common to nonprofit boards and crucial to a nonprofit’s success.

The board governance training program helps assure that the organization has the highly functioning board of directors it requires.

This is a one-day course designed for potential, new, and current board members who want to understand the major building blocks of an effective nonprofit board. The course covers the fundamental nonprofit governance concepts every nonprofit leader should understand, including board structure and practices, provides a complete overview of the board member’s role, and fully explains the expectations and responsibilities of a nonprofit board. It’s an informative way to initiate new members, to strengthen commitment and understanding for current members, and to learn more for potential members thinking about joining a board.

Testimonial

“My favorite class was the recruitment, training, & retention session. I enjoyed this session because when I accepted my job position the recruitment aspect of being the volunteer coordinator never crossed my mind. This session provided information and suggestions to successfully recruit new volunteers and to retain the volunteers that were already with the company.”
