Women, Children and Gender
In many countries, girls and young women face tremendous obstacles in realizing their basic rights. They experience multiple forms of discrimination and violence throughout their life, starting even before birth and continuing throughout childhood and adolescence. The consequences are far-reaching and serve only to perpetuate cycles of discrimination and violence against future generations of both girls and boys and preventing them from achieving their full potential as members of society. CEND offers a range of consultancy engagements with nonprofit organizations aimed at helping them create projects and initiatives that advance gender equality and empowerment of women and girls
Our Areas of Expertise

Equal Access to Quality Education
CEND works with nonprofits to remove barriers to girls’ education and promote gender equality. Specifically, we assist in programs that tackle discriminatory gender norms and harmful practices that deny girls access to school and quality learning; focus teacher training and professional development on gender-responsive pedagogies; remove gender stereotypes from learning materials; and address other obstacles, like distance-related barriers to education, re-entry policies for young mothers, and menstrual hygiene management in schools.

Increasing women’s and girls’ voice and leadership
Women have a right to participate fully and equally in public and political life and bring their unique experience to public debates and decisions. Our consulting services offer full-service solutions for nonprofits working on gender equality programs to create spaces for women to speak out and claim their rights; support women leaders to gain the confidence, skills, and knowledge to represent other women; improve the representation of women in local leadership; hold decision-makers to account and make sure they respond to women’s priorities.

Economic Consultancy
We partner with nonprofit organizations to help them design appropriate projects that prevent violence against women and girls, focusing on early education, respectful relationships, and working with men and boys. As part of CEND’s comprehensive approach, we also work with nonprofits to enhance data collection and analysis to provide a better understanding of the nature, magnitude, and consequences of violence against women and girls. For more than 5 years, CEND’s initiative, Safe Cities and Safe Public Spaces, has helped nonprofits to prevent and respond to sexual harassment against women and girls in public spaces.
